What happens when you get 9 hours of sleep a night for seven nights?
Try this experiment out and write 8-10 sentences about how it went and what you learned. (Thank you to Ty Shadburne for the excellent suggestion!) Light exercise: Take a walk, have a small dance party, stretch, do some sort of physical activity after dinner every night for seven nights. Write 3-5 sentences about your experience.

About one-third of U.S. adults get less than the recommended amount of sleep.I attempted to sleep nine hours every night for a week, which is the maximum amount recommended by the National Sleep Foundation. Although having a bedtime annoyed me, the extra rest helped me feel awake and productive all day. When I slept for so long, I felt like I was doing good for my body, and I wasn't feeling tired like I usually am. Having a bedtime made me feel organized and I will continue my new routine.

For the assignment, we had to get 9 hours of sleep each night for a week. Since I already get 9 hours of sleep, I am slightly confused on what i’m supposed to report. I’ll tell you how i end up feeling when I get 9 hours of sleep. For one, when I wake up I feel rested. I feel that when I don't get enough sleep, the whole day is thrown off. I feel sluggish and not able to focus. I also find that stretching before I go to bed is very helpful for a good night's sleep. It gets out most of my energy and it makes me feel more relaxed. I will definitely continue stretching before I go to bed and getting 9 hours of sleep each night.

I also already sleep more than than 9 hours a night. When I don't get enough sleep (under 6-7 hours), I am often tired and grumpy. I become a bit snappish, and near the end of the day, I feel and act sort of crazy, like I am on a small sugar rush. When I do sleep a full 10 hours, I am the same as usual. Slow to get up, but refreshed and energetic throughout the day.

I usually get around eight hours of sleep so it wasn't that hard to adjust to a new schedule. I have to wake up at seven to get to school on time, so I tried going to bed a half an hour earlier. I felt energetic and in a better mood. It wasn't that dramatic of a change because I was only going to bed half an hour earlier, but I did have a great seven days.

I did this over spring break because I didn't trust myself to get to school on time if I slept nine hours. I am generally pretty tired after a day so a lot of the time it was no trouble. On school nights I usually get 6-8 hours of sleep so I felt very awake during spring break. As for exercise, my room is up a flight of stairs so I ran up them a few times after dinner each night.

I don't get 9 hours of sleep and if I do I will not wake up and stay in bed, so I did this durring spring break and it was okay. I relized the longer or more average time i sleep my body doesn't like it and wakes up 2 hours before I need to or im just very laggy and don't get out of bed. So this was not that cool of a thing to try, I probly won't do it again, ill just go to sleep and wake up when my alarm clock goes off.

I was already getting almost nine hours of sleep as it was. This was by sleeping from ten to six thirty. To add the extra thirty minutes of sleep, I just set my alarm clock to seven. Sadly, a majority of the time I beat my alarm clock to waking me up, because I was very used to the eight and a half hours I was getting previously. I didn't feel that much better throughout my day, especially because I felt I hadn't done anything with my day by the time I was at school. Aside from that, because it was only a half hour difference, I really, as much as I tried, could not notice any significant difference about my health, or emotions. I just felt the same. Chances are, I will not keep up with waking up at seven.

I tried my best to get nine hours of sleep for one week, and it worked!!! I felt so much happier, and even though I usually get around that much sleep, it was really helpful for me to keep track of it. I did some physical exercises before I went to sleep, like soccer, and running around playing tag, and "I found out that when you do exercise before bed, your body gets more relaxed and tired, that you fall asleep easier! It was a little hard at first, but once I was about half way through the week I was fine. Though one night I just couldn't get to sleep, that sometimes happens once in a while. I also found that if you have you dog or cat on your bed, then it often takes longer for you to fall asleep, because your pet will be wiggling around, or making you want to stay up and snuggle them. I think it was a very good idea for me to try this out, I will recommend it to others. Thanks for asking us to do it.

I almost always get 9-10 hours of sleep, so my days are pretty good. I also found that not going on your phone before bed makes sleeping a lot easier, so during the weeks I usually read a book to fall asleep. When I go on my phone or computer before bed, I have trouble sleeping. I still get 9-10 hours of sleep, but I am just more tired in the morning.

I already get around 9 hours of sleep. This amount of sleep is, of course, crucial. It helps keep you in top condition and alertness. However, I used to keep a pretty sporadic sleep schedule. The switch since then has been good. It has seen me learn better habits. It even makes me more ready for school. I have no intention of ending this schedule.

This was pretty difficult due to my busy schedule but I managed to pull it off. I felt energized awake and over all happier. It was sort of weird felling so just aware of everything for a whole week. I kind of felt like was on a different planet. I noticed I was more involved in conversations. And also getting my homework and extra circulars done faster and more efficiently. This also helped with my exercise and I was able to exercise for longer feeling more accomplished after.

It did not go well. It took about half a week to even achieve that amount of sleep. Once I did, I overslept till twelve and it did not feel good. Eventually my sleep schedule evened out and I was able to get nine-ish hours of sleep from like 11 to 8 on a weekend and it felt alright but then I couldn't sleep the next night. So overall it wasn't that great but maybe if my sleep schedule wasn't as bad before it would've been alright.

I normally get 8 to 9 hours of sleep, so I didn't have to change much. It did make me feel a little more awake when my alarm went off. That helped me get ready for school faster, so I had a little more time in the mornings. I read that getting more sleep can improve many more things than I thought, for instance, getting more sleep can improve your memory. It can also help with preventing heart problems, as well as making people more creative, because brains restructure memories when people asleep. Sleeping around 10 hours can help increase stamina, and speed for athletes. Sleeping more can also help with keeping a healthy weight, lowering stress, and getting good grades.

I struggle to get more sleep when I want to. This is because my body is somewhat hardwired to my sleep schedule. My sleep schedule is from about 10:00-6:50. I stick to that pretty well except for sleepovers. When I did manage to sleep more, I didn't feel the slightest bit of difference besides not getting to read as much at night.

One way to improve heart disease is exercising daily. It can be any workout, as long as your heart rate up and have some sweat. I do taekwondo everyday for an hour. So my heart should be fine. A second way to improve your heart health is to have a healthy diet. This means a more meditradian diet. This includes more fresh fruit, vegetables, white meat, fish and less processed foods.

I actually usually sleep about 8-9 hours a night but this week I kept a consistent rate. I actually did feel a difference though. I felt a lot more energetic and HAPPIER. For exercise I did stretches and rode on our stationary bike.

Last week I did this experiment. I always wake up at 5:45 AM on the dot, so I had to go to bed at 8:00, which is very unusual for me. But, I felt much, much better, and preformed better in Martial Arts. For exercise I worked out at the gym, practiced on my punching bag, rode my bike, and went to Martial Arts.

So, this week I tried to get more sleep than I do. 9 hours of sleep, unfortunately, is simply out of the question when it comes down to how much sleep I can get. I got close, though, with 8 hours of sleep each night. However, compared to nights when I get six hours of sleep or less, I felt simply terrible with eight hours of sleep. I don't know why. I was irritable, got headaches, and I was drowsy all day. The funny thing is that I didn't change my lifestyle whatsoever during this week other than getting eight hours of sleep, so I don't really see what could have caused that other than the increased amout of sleep I got. Weird, right?

I usually get 8-9 hours of sleep so its normal for me. Im normally tiered in the morning but theres no way to fix that. Otherwise I feel good and rested. I know what its like when you get very little sleep you often have to nap aren't up for much and if I sleep in for a long time I become lazy.

I tried sleeping for at least 9 hours each night for 7 nights and sometimes it was easy and sometimes it wasn't. Some evenings I was busy with things my family was doing or activities. I tried to go to sleep in time to get 9 hours but sometimes I couldn't fall asleep. Also, I have to get up early on school days so it was hard to be in bed on time. On Friday and Saturday nights I could get 9 hours and I felt great when I did. I had more energy and felt ready for soccer or anything I was doing. I know that it is better for me to get more sleep but I'm not sure if I can keep it up. Next year I will be in a zero period class at my high school and it starts at 7am I think. I hope I can try to get 9 hours as often as possible though.

I normally get 9 hours of sleep or more each night. When they wake up I feel rested and I do well and am focused for the rest of the day. I know that when I don’t get enough sleep, I feel tired and unable to focuse all day long. I think that it is definitely helpful to get 9 hours of sleep a night, and detrimental to get less.

well for one it would depend on the person really. but me personally, i rarely ever get more than 6 hours of sleep. i have my own reasons but mostly it's due to insomnia. i go to bed by around midnight to 3 in the morning on a normal basis then wake up at 7 to 7:30 and am just fine.

I usually get 9-10 hours of sleep per night but I have noticed that when I don't there is a noticeable difference in how i feel. The reccomended amount of sleep you should get per night is 8hrs, most people however do not get 8hrs of sleep a night. People (from my experience) get less than 8 hrs of sleep. I also took a walk after dinner and when i compare it to less than 9hrs of sleep i felt more energized.

I often do not get very much sleep. I tend to procrastinate on school work and stay up to it before i sleep. First i had to rearrange my typical schedule when i get home. My sleeping patter of going to bed late and taking long day naps is what my body is used to. Because of that I had a lot of trouble falling asleep and i kept waking up throughout the night. This made me very groggy and easily irritated. Eventually at the end of the week i was able to get a proper 9 hours, which made me feel much more active, attentive in class.

I always get 9 hours with my normal routine, so it wasn't very hard. I usually am not tired at school because of this. I don't want to get out of bed most mornings, but that's because my bed is comfortable. I always seem more well-rested than my friends, especially in 1st and 2nd period. for exercise, I ran around in my basement while I watched tv

I usually get 8 hours of sleep unless I experience anxiety about schoolwork or my wushu class. I tried to get 9 hours for one week and I realized that it's a lot harder to do in my schedule than I thought! My routine was really off and I ended up laying in bed awake a few times because I wasn't used to trying to get 9 hours. When I did get 9 hours, I was more alert in the morning (I'm usually pretty groggy). I felt like I could more actively participate in class, especially my classes at the end of the day. I was also more active in my wushu class. I didn't tire as much. I would try it again, but I have too much to do to make 9 hours my usual amount of sleep time.

I tend to get 8 hours of sleep, so this wasn't a huge adjustment. However, It was still hard for me to fit 9 hours of sleep into my schedule. I ended up falling asleep earlier becuase I don't have tons of time in the mornings. After waking up from 9 hours of sleep, I felt really refreshed. At first it felt amazing to be able to sleep 9 hours, but as the week wore on my body got used to it. Sometimes when I get a little less than 8 hours sleep I snooze my alarm becuase I'm too tired. However, after sleeping for 9 hours I never experience this problem. All in all I think that this was a good thing for me to do, and that I'll try it out more in the future.

I really enjoyed going to sleep earlier, even though in the morning all I wanted was to sleep even more. I generally had more energy throughout the day so that was nice, but not much changed. I wish school could start late so we could sleep in, maybe everyone wouldn't be so stressed out all the time.

As for the light exercises I already do that so there was no change

The next however I went to bed early again but I woke up super late. My body just hert and I didn’t want to move. Even though I sleept more I still felt I needed to charge.

Getting nine hours of sleep night is needed by everyone if you don't have enough your brain will start to fail and you will need to sleep or you will pass out and that's not good. When I get nine hours of sleep I feel great in the morning ready to get up and to attack the day. I normally on a regular bases get nine to ten hours of sleep a night so when I don't get the sleep I fell tired and anxious at the end of the day. When I got exercise before dinner (Track and Field from school ends to 6:00) I feel great but, after dinner I need to sleep so I got my fitness before dinner so my calories where burned off before dinner.

That would be a good amount of sleep. The national sleep foundation suggests adults get 7-9 hours every night. It also suggests teenagers get around 8-10. The younger you are, the more sleep you need. For instance, an infant should get 14-17 hours of sleep. The amount of sleep is very important. A group did a test on the elderly, and it showed that if they got less than 6 or more than ten it was a serious health risk. People who don't sleep enough have a much higher risk of alsimers desease.

Last year when we had this assignment due, I totally neglected to do it because I though it wouldn't be possible and didn't even try. This year, when this assignment came around, I decided that maybe I would actually give it a genuine effort, and I was pretty shocked by the results. For one week, I went to bed every night by 8pm and woke up by 5. At first it was really difficult and I was exhausted, but after the first three days I started feeling really good.

I usually get at least 7-8 hours of sleep every night so there wasn't much of a difference when I got 9 hours of sleep. I usually got to bed around 8:30-9:00 on weekdays and wake up at 5:00. ON weekends I got to sleep at 11:00 and wake up at 8:00. Sometimes when I get less than 7 hours of sleep I feel super tired and sluggish for the day and have a hard time waking up in the morning. I remember hearing somewhere that someone at my age which at the time was 13 should get about 7 hours of sleep at least so ever since I heard that I have been trying to get a good amount of sleep for my age which is 8-9 hours. After dinner sometimes I take a walk or do a light jog. I also started lifting weights but forgot a lot of the time and only do that about twice a week.

When I did this I wasn't to surprised I usually get like 6-7 hours of sleep every night. Which isn't very bad, but having Nine hours a sleep helped a lot. I felt more relaxed and happy to start the day, I could feel good about everything. Usually I don't like to start the day, but it was soo good to have a good night sleep. It was hard to get nine hours at firsts and settle in but at the end I was getting my sleep and I felt great.

On a daily basis, I'm usually getting 8 1/2 to 9 hours of sleep a night, so for this assignment I didn't have much to compare my sleep schedule to. However, I know that on nights where I get less than 8 1/2 hours, I wake up slow and am slow throughout the day. I get easily frustrated, and often get upset about little things. On nights where I get more than 9 hours, I have a slow start, but am energized after fully awakening. It helps a lot when I have an eventful schedule the next day. With my prior knowledge from the Sleep Video I watched a while back, I'd say 9 hours is a healthy amount of sleep. People say that they can become used to getting less and less sleep, but it's usually your body tricking you into thinking that. The amount of sleep that's necessary for your being depends on your genetics, as well as your sleeping environment (light, alarms, caffeine).

I typically get an average of ten hours of sleep per night, so I kinda tried experimenting with less. My body didn't react well, so I'm back to my normal. I didn't see much difference personally. Sleep is one of my healthiest habits, so I don't intend on getting much less than normal if I can help it. I am very tired throughout the day, but that mostly harkens back to my medications. Overall, sleep is very important to my mood, I get grouchy if I get too little. I respect my body enough to get good sleep.

I usually go to bed at 11:00 or 1:00 but tonight i tried going to bed at 9:00. And if I wake up at 8:00 I would get 11 hours of sleep. That night I set my timer for 8:00, got into my night clothes, and hoped in bed. The next morning I felt that it was easier to wake up and I got already for school faster, I was also in a better mood, even my brother noticed I wasn't as grumpy. When I went to school I was more focused and I worked a lot harder that usual. I had more patience that day and I was not as tired. It was really hard that night going to bed at 9:00 since I usually stay up really late, but I think it was worth it! And i'll start trying to go to bed around 9:00.
